Auther Note: For the sake of storyline Tim was never killed.

Part 6

Mercedes Chandler sat in first class all the way to Sunset Beach but that didn't make the long fight from Paris any more bearable. The only thing that kept her from hitting the obnoxious man next to her was thoughts of her favorite uncle, AJ.

As the plane finally landed Mercedes left quickly, not wanting to waist another second in the crowded airport. After all maybe she would finally be able to forget about Jason.

"Not a word."

Bree struggled against her attacker, pulling his hair and kicking him. He pushed her face down in the dirt by her neck.

Bree was so scared. Although she had lived in crime-filled areas in New York City, she had never been attacked so viciously.

He repeatedly smashed her head against the ground. Barely able to keep her eyes open, she heard voices and struggling.

"Got off of her."

Vaguely Bree heard more screams and fighting before she lost all consciousness.

"Hello, who do I give my application to?" Abigail asked.

She had searched for a job thoughout Sunset Beach. Her search had eventually brought her to the police station.

"I can take that for you." Spencer took the form from Abby.

"Thanks."

"When will I know if I got the job or not?"

"I'm not sure. You would have to ask in personnel. I'm sure not more than a few days. I'm Eric Spencer, by the way."

"Taw…Abigail."

"Are you new around here I don't think I've seen you around."

"Ya, I just moved here. Well, it was nice to meet you Eric."

"You too, Abigail."

"Now I hope she gets the job."

"Where did she go, Emily?" Jude asked.

"I don't know. She could be anywhere."

"You must have some idea."

"She has family in Seattle. An aunt or something."

"Fine, don't let Annie worry."

"Where are you going? If you come after her, she'll just run away farther."

"And what about my father, Emily? This will destroy him."

"What about my mother?"

"Don't you want your mother back?"

"Yes, more than anything but trying to track her down will make things worse."

"I won't I promise."

"How's Annie?" Amy asked, just arriving.

Sean and Amy stopped when they saw Emily's tears and Jude's look of pain.

"She's good." Jude placed a hand on Emily's shoulder, "Remember what I said."

"I will."

Sensing there was more going on Sean asked Emily, "What was that all about."

"Nothing. I've got to go."

Amy was more than eager to watch Emily leave. It was common knowledge that Emily and Sean still were madly in love but Amy wasn't about to let that ruin her marriage.

"I've already won, Emily."

*****************************************************************

Emily walked to her car slowly. She knows that Sean would follow and she was eager to see him again.

"Hi, baby."

"I knew you would come." Emily turned as Sean pushed her into the car, kissing her passionately.

"Tonight?" Emily asked as Sean nibbled on her neck.

"I'll be there."

*****************************************************************

"Is she okay?" Chris asked paramedics as an unconscious Bree was rushed to the hospital.

"She has a serious head injury."

"Let's check you."

"No, I'm fine." Chris wiped blood from the large gash on his arm.

"At least let me clean that up." An EMT began to clean and bandage Chris's arm.

Chris stared at Bree's face. Her once beautiful eyes both were surrounded by black bruises and blood.

"I'm sorry, Bree. I'm sorry I got there too late."

*****************************************************************

Unbeknownst to Mercedes, she had been traveling with an enemy of her dear old uncle's.

One that he had been suspected of murdering.

"It's good to be back in Sunset Beach. Oh, yes it is." She said with an evil laugh. "I will get what, or shall I say who, I want. And this time no bullet will stop me."

*****************************************************************

"Gabi, I wantt to talk to you about earlier."

"Paula, there's nothing to say. You don't want to believe that dad is a rapist but he is."

"I know that Dad was a rapist."

"Would you not use the past tense. People like him don't change. If anything should have proven that, it should have been Lolita."

"He's still my dad, Gabi. I'm sorry."

"Me too. You can't even begin to understand what my childhood was like."

"What do you want me to say."

"Nothing. There is nothing left to say."

Paula and Gabi's fighting came to an abrupt stop when Lolita walked into the kitchen.

"Do you guys ever act like sisters?"

"Lollie, we didn't mean for you to hear us." Gabi said, trying to calm her sister.

"You never mean, Gabi. But somehow you always manage to. You just can't let Paula forget the fact that all of us were raped except her, and you." She turns to Paula, "You can't seem to get it through your head that as good of a father he was to you that he was still a rapist."

Ricardo walked in on their fighting as he did so many times before. He placed a hand on Lolita's shoulder, offering comfort.

Lolita jumped and fearfully looked into Ricardo's eyes as if to look into his soul before she began to scream.

"Meg?"

"I'm in the kitchen."

"Hey. So I was thinking. Our anniversary is coming up and we really haven't seen each other a lot lately, so I was hoping that we could go to Palm Springs for the weekend."

"Really? You mean you finally found time in your busy life to see me?"

"Come on, Meg. That's not fair."

"I'm sorry. Let's just go, ok."

"Fine."

"Fine."

*****************************************************************

"Fighting, Fighting. You really are making this too easy for me, brother."

Slipping off the mask, Derek began walking towards the county jail. He was eager to see Tess and make up for lost time between them.

"After all I need her help in making Ben pay. And after I'm done, Meg and I will be free to be together…forever."

*****************************************************************

Maria walked up the marble pathway towards the grave where her baby had been buried.

Glass pushed its way through the earth and it seemed as if time was healing everything but the hurt in her heart.

"I can blame Ross but I know, Christina, that your death was my fault."

"Maria?"

"Tim, what are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same question."

*****************************************************************

"Where is she? Where's my sister?" Josh Cummings screamed at a nearby nurse.

"Josh, calm down. Ranting and raving like a lunatic isn't going to make Bree ok. It's just going to make the doctor commit you."

"Paige…shut up."

"Paige, Josh, what are you guys doing here?" A confused Joan asked.

"Meg called us and josh insisted on finding the bastard who did this."

"Well, we have a pretty good idea." Hank said angrily.

"Who?" Josh asked, wanting to see the person who put his baby sister in the hospital brought to justice.

"His name is Ross." Sara said.

"Don't even think about it." Paige said.

"Who are you, my keeper?" Josh asked angrily.

"I just don't want to have to bail you out of jail again."

"What?" the rest of the Cummingses asked at once.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Newmons. I have some news on Brianne."
